How did you discover your passion for comedy:
I’m a professional photographer by day and to get people to relax I’ve always made jokes but was terrified to do it with a mic in front of people. Then in 2018, I was going through a very difficult personal time in my life and one night I sat down and made a list of everything I had always wanted to do but was too scared to do it. Then the next day I just started tackling each thing one by one and crossing them off the list. The 2nd fear to conquer on my list was Stand Up Comedy, I went to this dive bar open mic and they gave me 10 mins and I had maybe 2 mins of material, I did like 3-4 mins and then got off stage, I had received a few laughs. A friend of mine who went with me asked me how I felt once I got off stage and I said, “I want to do that every night for the rest of my life.” I haven’t looked back since. I truly love making people laugh, I don’t care if it’s one person or a thousand. Seeing people have that moment of uncontrolled happiness pouring from them through laughter gives me life.

What do you remember most about your first time performing stand-up comedy:
I was genuinely happy at that moment. Also, I had to pee right before I went up and the pee after I was done was the best pee ever.

How would you describe your comedic style:
Kinda aggressive and raunchy.

Describe your process for comedic writing:
I write a lot on stage and video or record everything and then do it and re-do it until it punches like Mike Tyson. I draw lots of my content from friends and my own stupid situations.

Describe the comedy scene in your area:
Los Angeles comedy is ALWAYS hungry as hell. It’s relentless and you have to relentless to thrive in it.

How do you judge success in the world of comedy:
Success is just doing something you are afraid to do obsessively. I can bomb or kill but the fact that I got off my ass and stood up in front of people and made jokes is the win regardless.

Who are some of your comedic peers that you enjoy watching perform or inspire you personally and professionally:
Sarah Lawrence is an inspiration to me, she is super empowering and strong and kind.

Sam Contreras and I started doing stand-up comedy at the same open mic on the same night and we have remained friends and supported each other since that night.

Sina Amedson and I went to high school together and he was a huge supporter in me starting and is a huge inspiration of mine Renee Percy has been a mentor to me and has helped me grow as a comedian in huge ways.

What’s been your most memorable moment in comedy:
My favorite memory has been the show with literally three people in the audience and getting them to hysterically laugh. Sometimes the small shows are the best.

What have you learned most from your failures in comedy:
Failures and bombing are the best cause it teaches you how to improve and motivates the shit out of me to step up my shit. It also keeps you humble. Always stay humble and wreck shit!

How do people react towards you when they realize that you can make people laugh:
I get told to “TELL ME A JOKE” all the time and I simply say. Sure just come out to my show and I will! Also for some reason men love to “jokingly” say, “I bet I’m funnier than you”.

Describe what it’s been like building a career in stand-up comedy:
It’s a lot of energy and effort but I am a very aggressive person when I am passionate about something so it’s been a good ride so far.

If you could change one thing in the world of comedy, what would it be:
More women in comedy. Also, I think if you book a show (not an open mic) and are getting money at the door you should absolutely ALWAYS pay your comedians even if it’s a small piece or free drinks or SOMETHING. I don’t think it’s right to make money off of other’s performances without compensating them in some way but hey that’s not the way it works in the industry.

Best advice you’ve ever received from a comedian:
DO NOT EVER fuck other comedians.

I never have and I never will.

If you were releasing a comedy special this week, what would it be called:
I can’t.

Funniest encounter you’ve ever had with a celebrity:
I was quickly walking with a giant bowl of guacamole on a studio lot and turned a corner by a trailer and almost ran directly into Jamie Foxx. I was so shook and thrown off that all I blubbered up to say was “Guac?” and offered him some like a complete weirdo. He declined and walked away.

Weirdest place you’ve ever performed any forms of comedy:
A dive bar in San Clemente because….. it’s a dive bar in San Clemente.

A Bee Gutierrez Fun Fact:
I used to breakdance competitively, A VERY LONG TIME AGO.

Where would you like your laughs to take you:
I just wanna do stand-up comedy for my FT job and make a stable solid living from making others laugh.

What would you tell a potential comedian if they ask you how they can own the laughs:
DO IT. AS MUCH AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN. KEEP GOING NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU FAIL!

What are your thoughts on the future of comedy:
I think it’s bright. Laughter is so vital and needed especially these days. We need to laugh more at EVERYTHING these days.

If you could write one episode for one classic TV sitcom which show would be and give a brief detailed sentence on the episode:
In Living Color.

It was way before its time and it was insensitive and hilarious.

If you could choose 1 comedy club and 3 comedians to perform with on your perfect comedy show, how would it go:
Comedy Store or of course Laugh Factory (It’s just so iconic) I’d have ALL women, It would be fun to have strong women like Iliza Shlesinger, Whitney Cummings, and Tiffany Haddish all together.

What next for you:
With the pandemic, it’s hard to know what the future is going to bring but all I care about is doing live shows however I can. I would like to start traveling to do shows more! So hopefully travel and new places and new faces and audiences!

Why should a person always laugh at life:
There is always gonna be a reason to be negative. Wouldn’t you rather just let it go and laugh.
