HBO has released the official trailer for Mike White’s upcoming satire comedy series titled The White Lotus, starring Connie Britton, Jennifer Coolidge, Alexandra Daddario, and more. The video features the titular Hawaiian resort and spa as they welcome a new group of VIPs comprised of crazy rich white people. The limited series is scheduled to premiere on July 11 on HBO and on HBO Max.
The limited series will star Murray Bartlett (Iron Fist), Connie Britton (American Horror Story, Nashville), Natasha Rothwell (Insecure), Steve Zahn (Treme), Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria), Brittany O’Grady (Black Christmas), Jake Lacy (The Office), Alexandra Daddario (Why Women Kill), Molly Shannon (Other People), Jennifer Coolidge (Legally Blonde) and Fred Hechinger.
Among the employees at The White Lotus are the fastidious resort manager Armond, who, after a sudden trauma, begins a dramatic downward spiral – and the down-to-earth spa manager, Belinda, who gets taken on an emotional roller coaster ride by a needy guest. The vacationers include the Mossbacher family – Nicole, a successful type-A exec, who can’t help but treat her family like disobedient employees; her husband, Mark, dealing with both an embarrassing health crisis and a terminal inferiority complex; their teenaged son, Quinn, a socially awkward gamer, experiencing the wonder of nature for the very first time; their daughter, Olivia, and her friend, Paula, sharp-tongued college sophomores who cast a sardonic eye on the lifestyles and belief systems of everyone around them.
The handsome, entitled Shane Patton is here with his beautiful bride, Rachel. Shane and Rachel are in the throes of young love. Still, as they get to know each other better in this new, intimate environment, clouds of doubt appear – and by the time Shane’s intrusive mother, Kitty, surprises them with an unwelcome visit, their fairytale honeymoon has begun to unravel. And finally, there is Tanya McQuoid, a wealthy, unstable woman, recovering from her mother’s death, traveling alone to the hotel, looking for love, and in desperate need of a massage.
The White Lotus is created, written, and directed by Mike White (Enlightened). It is executive produced by White, David Bernard, and Nick Hall.
