How did you discover your passion for comedy:
I’ve always enjoyed making people laugh and when I got the opportunity to perform, I took it and won first place at my middle school talent show.

What do you remember most about your first time performing stand-up comedy:
I was super nervous and was scared no one was going to laugh, but thankfully I was wrong.

How would you describe your comedic style:
Observational storytelling that focuses on experiences as an educator, married man, and wild lifestyle choices.

Describe your process for comedic writing:
My writing process doesn’t happen when I’m sitting down to write material, it happens when I’m having a conversation with a close friend or family member or random stranger when I’m able to be myself and talk like the savage that I truly am.

Describe the comedy scene in your area:
The Bay Area has some of the most generous venues that allow comedians to try out new jokes and polish older ones.

How do you judge success in the world of comedy:
Success in the world of comedy, to me, means that a comedian continues to evolve as a writer and performer in order to get more opportunities while consistently performing. As long as the comedian continues to grow and hone their craft, that is a success.

Who are some of your comedic peers that you enjoy watching perform or inspire you personally and professionally:
Mario “The Butcher” Montes, Christopher John, Vahé Hove, & Billy Anderson

What’s been your most memorable moment in comedy:
I was five years in and I got to perform for an entirely-Mexican audience at the Fox Theater in Salinas, CA and I did jokes in Spanish for the first time ever and absolutely crushed and had one of my best sets ever.

What have you learned most from your failures in comedy:
I learned that quitting isn’t an option and that I am responsible for my own success.

How do people react towards you when they realize that you can make people laugh:
Their attitudes toward me positively changes and they let their guards down.

Describe what it’s been like building a career in stand-up comedy:
It’s been super frustrating and anxiety-ridden, but I’m proud of the opportunities stand-up comedy has presented me.

If you could change one thing in the world of comedy, what would it be:
All joke thieves must retire.

Best advice you’ve ever received from a comedian:
“Treat every time you are on a mic like an audition; you never know who’s in the audience and what they might want to hire you for.” – Carlos Rodriguez

If you were releasing a comedy special this week, what would it be called:
Not Too Fat To F*ck.

Funniest encounter you’ve ever had with a celebrity:
I asked Doug Stanhope on a Q&A about a not-so-great experience with Bill Maher and he interrupts my questions to go on a rant about how much he hates Bill Maher and I couldn’t stop laughing because that wasn’t my question at all.

Weirdest place you’ve ever performed any form of comedy:
Men’s Health Expo during the daytime with kids and family-friendly comedy. Absolutely no alcohol was available to the audience and I am grossly overweight so I had no idea how I could positively represent a Men’s Health Expo.

A Victor Pacheco’s Fun Fact:
I love going to Pier 39 and embarrassing my friends by barking like a seal to communicate with me as if I’m the leader of the pack. Works. Every. Time.

Where would you like your laughs to take you:
I would love to become a full-time working comic who can survive off of stand-up without having a daytime job that I hate like substitute teaching.

What would you tell a potential comedian if they ask you how they can own the laughs:
Be confident out there and have fun. Be yourself and manipulate the energy in the room so everyone is on your wavelength and feels you.

What are your thoughts on the future of comedy:
People are going through a lot of rough times right now so I think that the future of comedy is going to be where comedy is viewed as a necessity as opposed to being a luxury.

If you could write one episode for one classic TV sitcom which show would it be and give a brief detailed sentence on the episode:
I would love to write myself into any Saved By The Bell episode as AC Slater, but have the audience still consider me hunky and athletic!

If you could choose 1 comedy club and 3 comedians to perform with on your perfect comedy show, how would it go:
San Jose Improv Comedy Club with Joey Díaz and Doug Stanhope co-headlining with me hosting and special guest Dave Attell.

What’s next for you:
I just moved to Santa Monica to pursue my dream of being a stay-at-home husband, but I’m also going to be attempting to get in at all of the clubs down here and make new connections with new people.

Why should a person always laugh at life:
.
People need relief from the miseries of life and think about things that elicit laughter and good times.
