Comedy legend Mike Epps makes his TV sitcom debut as he stars alongside Kim Fields and Wanda Sykes in the Netflix comedy series The Upshaws.
Epps plays Bennie, the head of a Black working-class family in Indianapolis. He’s a charming, well-intentioned mechanic — and lifelong mess — who’s just trying to step up and care for his family, including wife Regina (Kim Fields), their two young daughters and firstborn son, and the teenage son he fathered with another woman.
Bennie also attempts to tolerate his sister-in-law Lucretia (comedian Wanda Sykes), but to more failures than successes.
Wanda Sykes and Mike Epps both executive produce the project along with Last Comic Standing’s Page Hurwitz, and Niles Kirchner. Season 1 featuring 10 half-hour episodes will released for Netflix streaming on Wednesday, May 12.
