George Lopez is coming back to TV. And this time, he’s bringing his daughter Mayan with him.
Both Lopezs will star in a new multi-cam put pilot for NBC, Lopez vs Lopez. The show is described as “a working-class family comedy about dysfunction, reconnection and all the pain and joy in between.”
For the latest venture, Lopez is also teaming up again with the co-creator of The George Lopez Show, Bruce Helford, as well as Debby Wolfe, who wrote the script. Wolfe wrote the script initially, then was connected to Lopez by Helford, who helped develop the idea even further. Helford, Wolfe, George Lopez, Michael Rotenberg, and Katie Newman are all executive producing the series, with Mayan Lopez on board as a producer.
Last month, Lopez announced that he may be retiring from stand-up sometime in the near future. So at least now the comedian has a new project to focus on.
