How did you discover your passion for comedy:
For 10 years I went to my boyfriend’s comedy shows and realized “I can do this!”. There are NOT enough strong females doing real, interesting, original stand-up who dress as they care. The audience is composed of people who are spending their hard-earned money and valuable time to come out and see live stand-up comedy. If I looked like I just rolled out of bed… came straight from a gym… or, just left doing Slip-n-Slide with my 4-year-old … then that means I don’t give a crap. I care that the quality of my appearance matches the quality of my material.

What do you remember most about your first time performing stand-up comedy:
I ordered online a beautiful body-conscious banded yellow dress specifically for my debut performance at Flappers in Burbank, CA. On the day of the show the dress arrived… I tried it on… HOLY SH*T!!! It was like 3 sizes too small!!! Rather than freak out – I said “screw it this is comedy material”. I proudly wore that dress that I could NOT zip up on stage and did a set about ordering clothes online from China! Yes, the dress was PERFECT… thank you China!

How would you describe your comedic style:
Observational humor that is NSFW.

Describe your process for comedic writing:
I observe something weird or odd in life… I then bounce the concept off of my comedian boyfriend “The BriGuy”… he & I hash out the funny … BOOM – a high-quality, money-back guarantee, laugh out loud evergreen joke is born. I, unfortunately, cannot run these jokes by my four-year-old.

Describe the comedy scene in your area:
Wineries, breweries, dive bars, fairs & festivals.

How do you judge success in the world of comedy:
Screw belly laughs… it making people’s faces hurt from laughing that defines success!

Who are some of your comedic peers that you enjoy watching perform or inspire you personally and professionally:
Comedians with confidence. Self-deprecation on stage (like in the bedroom) is a BIG turnoff.

What’s been your most memorable moment in comedy:
Performing to a packed house on the main stage at The Ice House… the energy was off the charts! I KILLED! Took me 4 martinis and a trip to “In-n-Out Burger” to settle me back down on planet Earth.

How do people react towards you when they realize that you can make people laugh:
I usually am already making them laugh like when I’m in the lobby of my son’s gymnastics or dance class. They then say “You are really funny!” and then I tell them I am a stand-up comedian. Which is usually met with them saying, “REALLY!?” They immediately want to know where I’m performing next.

Describe what it’s been like building a career in stand-up comedy:
It started out like watching pandas trying to mate. I think there was a fear of a former beauty queen “trying to be funny”. However, once bookers got a chance to see me perform then the hesitation was gone. Quality material + energetic stage presence = stage time.

If you could change one thing in the world of comedy, what would it be:
Parking would be free in Los Angeles… for the ladies ? (specifically @ The Comedy Store & The Laugh Factory – am I right?)

Best advice you’ve ever received from a comedian:
When I was offered to pose for Playboy 2 times Jenny McCarthy told me to “Turn down Playboy – there’s NO control.” Glad I took her advice.

If you were releasing a comedy special this week, what would it be called:
“Me, Myself, Martini”

Funniest encounter you’ve ever had with a celebrity:
The time Melanie Griffith hit on me in Aspen for a menage a trois when I just started my period.

Weirdest place you’ve ever performed any form of comedy:
I participated in market research studies in the past as a “finishing school teacher” because I couldn’t say “comedian” – my goal was to make the people behind the one-way mirror laugh. I think I succeeded. The laughter behind the glass was audible.

A Kristina Hughes Fun Fact:
I have 5 cats. Bring on the “Crazy Cat Lady” jokes!

Where would you like your laughs to take you:
To have a residency show in Vegas. Complete with hand-selected male dancers and a signature COCK-tail.

What would you tell a potential comedian if they ask you how they can own the laughs:
Write. Original. Material. OFTEN.

What are your thoughts on the future of comedy:
We MUST support Freedom of Speech and not Cancel Culture someone off an edited bit.

If you could write one episode for one classic TV sitcom which show would it be and give a brief detailed sentence on the episode:
I would write an episode of ‘Facts of Life’. In this very special episode, I would expose Mrs. Garrett’s secret hidden agenda to introduce “the girls” to her many MLM schemes including (but not limited to) Doterra, Send Out Cards and Herbalife. In this episode, Blaire sells a LOT more than Tootie. Tootie says that racism is hindering sales. A mini race war happens amongst the girls. Then, Mrs. Garrett saves the day (yet again) and teaches the girls that MLM’s are for “the little people” and race IS indeed a factor. Racism is dead once she introduces the girls to Jeffery Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell where race is NOT a factor (but AGE is) when it comes to teen sex trafficking. The girls are now united! Thanks Mrs. Garrett, Jeffery & Ghislaine for making all the girls feel special in this VERY SPECIAL episode! Please DO NOT share this concept as I haven’t yet registered it at WGA. ?

If you could choose 1 comedy club and 3 comedians to perform with on your perfect comedy show, how would it go:
It goes something like this…
The event space is either at the MGM Grand Garden Arena or the Mandalay Bay Events Center…
Performing with:
Brian Vermeire (Open & Host)
Ricky Gervais
Joan Rivers (via hologram I guess)
Kristina Hughes (The Closer)

What’s next for you:
A glass of old vine Zinfandel

Why should a person always laugh at life:
.Laughing extends life, lowers your blood pressure, and enhances your libido (truly)
