Apple TV+ has dropped the full trailer for the upcoming miniseries, The Shrink Next Door. The dark comedy stars Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, and Kathryn Hahn. The series is scheduled to make its debut on Friday, November 12, with the first three episodes releasing.
The trailer features Rudd as a psychiatrist, who tries to help Ferrell’s Marty in overcoming his anxiety and fears through unconventional methods. The video highlights how their patient-doctor relationship slowly evolves into Rudd taking over his patient’s life by influencing all of his decisions and integrating himself into his family affairs and business.
The series is based on Joe Nocera’s podcast of the same name, detailing the bizarre relationship between psychiatrist to the stars Dr. Isaac “Ike” Herschkopf and his longtime patient Martin “Marty” Markowitz. It explores how a seemingly normal doctor-patient dynamic morphs into an exploitative relationship filled with manipulation, power grabs, and dysfunction at its finest.
The dark comedy miniseries stars Paul Rudd (Ant-Man and Wasp: Quantumania) as Ike and Will Ferrell (Elf) as Marty along with Kathryn Hahn (WandaVision) as Phyllis, and Casey Wilson (Happy Endings) as Bonnie.
Executive producers are Ferrell, Rudd, Nocera, Showalter, Pritchett, Jessica Elbaum, Jordana Mollick, Aaron Hart, Hernan Lopez, Marshall Lewy, Jared Sandberg, Katie Boyce, Francesca Levy and Brittney Segal.
