A legendary comedian whose career will never be forgotten.

During Saturday Night Live’s 47th season premiere this weekend, the comedy sketch series paid tribute to Norm Macdonald during a segment of Weekend Update.

Co-anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che saved the last minutes of their segment to remember the late comedian’s best moments. During the tribute, old clips of Macdonald hosting the new comedy segment played, with jokes centered around former President Bill Clinton, Johnnie Cochran, and many more.

Macdonald famously was part of SNL from 1993 through 1998 and hosted its Weekend Update segment. He was controversially fired in 1998. Post SNL, Macdonald was a successful stand-up comedian, starred in The Norm Show, and appeared in The Middle in a recurring role. Most recently, Macdonald had a talk show on Netflix for one season called Norm Macdonald Has a Show.

Macdonald passed away last month at the age of 61, following a private battle with cancer.
