After almost two years of self-isolation due to a global pandemic, 2021 saw the emergence of various new comedy clubs throughout the Lone Star State. Dallas, Texas would witness the re-grand opening of the Dallas Comedy Club in early September and new Texan comedian/podcaster Joe Rogan made headlines in April with the purchase of the One World Theatre in Austin, Texas as he plans to open a premier comedy club in early 2022. House of Comedy founder Rick Bronson adds to the Texas comedy boom with the opening of a new H.O.C in the Dallas/Forth Worth area.
The Plano House of Comedy opened October 22 at The Shops at Legacy, 7301 Lone Star Drive, Plano. The comedy club, which took over the space formerly occupied by the Blue Martini lounge, offers a dine-in experience with drinks and stand-up comedy. During a conversation with Community Impact Newspaper, Bronson explains the club will feature a mixture of local comics and touring entertainers from around the country.
“Typically, our headliners are all touring comics—guys that you’ve seen on all the late-night talk shows or ‘Last Comic Standing,’ Comedy Central, Netflix, those types of acts,” Bronson said earlier this year. “That being said, all of our clubs are huge development clubs. We work and encourage the local comics to get as much face time as possible and get onstage as frequently as they can.”
The club has performances scheduled for later this month from Asif Ali, Annie Lederman, Rocky Dale Davis, and more. Bronson also has House of Comedy locations in Arizona, Minnesota and British Columbia in Canada as well as The Comic Strip location in Alberta, Canada. https://tx.houseofcomedy.net
