Freeform has released the official trailer for the forthcoming comedy series titled Single Drunk Female, starring Sofia Black-D’Elia and Ally Sheedy. It is scheduled to make its debut on Thursday, January 20 with back-to-back episodes. After its premiere, the series will air new episodes Thursdays at 10:30 p.m., also available the next day on Hulu.
The video features a young alcoholic adult as she tries to become sober in order to avoid imprisonment. However, attaining sobriety for a long period will be difficult for her while she also deals with personal problems including dealing with her overbearing mother, and finding out that her best friend is already dating her ex.
Single Drunk Female stars Sofia Black-D’Elia (Your Honor), Ally Sheedy (The Breakfast Club), Rebecca Henderson (Russian Doll), Sasha Compère (Love Life), Lily Mae Harrington (Some Freaks), and Garrick Bernard (staff writer on Star Trek: Lower Decks).
After a public flame-out at a New York media company, 20-something alcoholic Samantha Fink is forced to seize the only chance she has to sober up and avoid jail time: moving back home with her overbearing mother, Carol,” reads the synopsis. “Back in Greater Boston, Samantha restarts her life, working at the local grocery store while surrounded by all of the triggers that made her drink in the first place. Confronted with remnants of her old life, including run-ins with her perfect former best friend, who is now dating her ex, Samantha sets out on a path to move past her worst self and figure out her best self.
Singe Drunk Female is written and created by Simone Finch. Executive producers are Finch, Jenni Konner, Daisy Gardner, Phil Traill, Nora Silver, and Leslye Headland, who also directed the pilot. It is a production by 20th Television.
