A bomb threat resulted in a quick evacuation of fans at a Katt Williams’ comedy show in Nashville, Tennessee late Saturday night.
In a release made by the Nashville Municipal Auditorium, Williams abruptly ended his show 10 minutes before his set was planned to end due to a bomb threat. The auditorium stated that Williams decided not to inform the crowd of the bomb scare to avoid panic and possible injuries.
One local security consultant told News 2 he thought Williams made the right call. He said high-stress evacuations can lead to crowding and fans trampling over one another.
“When the crowd becomes scared, if you tell them certain information that will arouse their fear then there is no order. It’s ‘me,’ self-preservation, I’m going to get out of here as quick as I can and I’m going to run over whoever I can in the process,” security consultant JC Shegog said.
Metro Nashville Police were able to clear the building successfully Saturday night without incident. Officers didn’t state how the threat was made or reported. There are no suspects in custody at this time.
Katt Williams was in Nashville as a part of his “World War III” comedy tour. The comedian has not made a statement regarding the incident at this time.
In November 2021, Williams would stop the show at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky to help provide aid to an audience member who collapsed during his set. Williams would take a 10-minute break while medics rushed in to tend to the audience member. He would go on to pace around the stage and talk with other audience members until paramedics told him that it was safe to restart his performance.
