Is it a good idea to revel in nostalgia? The new Hulu series Reboot makes its own attempt at deconstructing what we love about certain TV favorites. Set two decades after a fictional sitcom’s run, this comedy shines a light on what happens when the inevitable return is commissioned. What results is a set full of complications and bad memories.
The premise of a popular sitcom is nothing new to Steven Levitan. After producing and writing classic comedies — including “Frasier” — Levitan created “Modern Family.” Now, he’s hoping to extend the winning streak with his newest creation Reboot. Much like those projects, Levitan is acting as executive producer. This time he’s joined by Danielle Stokdyk and Jeff Morton as EPs. While he’s directed various series, there’s no word on whether he’ll take the helm for this project.
The series’ official synopsis:
Hulu reboots an early 2000’s family sitcom, forcing its dysfunctional cast back together. Now they must deal with their unresolved issues in today’s fast-changing world.
A popular sitcom tries to make a comeback in Reboot. The series premieres on Hulu on September 20, with new episodes debuting each week.
