Chris and Frankie talk about being friends for over 10 years, Frankie playing Chris’ cousin, filming at a real prison, avoiding prison setting cliches, Frankie killing his audition, the jobs they had as struggling comedians, delivering food to Robin Thicke, failing a fork lift driving test, hearing from old co-workers, and their Hulu show This Fool.

Hulu “This Fool”: The comedy is set in working-class South Central Los Angeles and centers on Julio Lopez (Estrada), a 30-year-old who still lives at home. Julio has been dating his girlfriend on and off since high school and works at Hugs Not Thugs, a nonprofit that offers rehabilitation for gang members. He and his family take in his older cousin Luis, an ex-gang member who just got out of prison.

Ten episodes are planned for the first season. Besides Estrada, the series stars Frankie Quinones as Luis, Laura Patalano as Esperanza, Michelle Ortiz as Maggie, Julia Vera as Maria and Michael Imperioli as Minister Payne. This Fool is written and executive produced by Estrada, Pat Bishop, Jake Weisman and Matt Ingebretson. Jonathan Groff and Fred Armisen also serve as executive producers on the series.

Chris Estrada: Chris Estrada is a comedian/writer born and raised in South Central and Inglewood, where he spent his formative years running from loose pit bulls, getting robbed, and geeking out over comic books and punk rock. He was voted “one of LA’s comedians to watch in 2018,” by Time Out LA and was recently seen as an “Up Next” performer at Comedy Central’s Clusterfest in San Francisco.

Frankie Quinones: Frankie Quiñones is a stand-up comedian, actor and creator, best known for his character work. Frankie is currently filming one of the lead roles in the ABC Studios Hulu show, entitled THIS FOOL from creators Chris Estrada, Fred Armisen, Jake Weisman, Pat Bishhop and Matt Ingebretson. His new podcast THE FRANKIE QUINOÑES SHOW, presented by Will Ferrell’s Big Money Players Network and iHeart Radio, features sketches of colorful characters based on the friends and family that helped shape him into the powerhouse comedian he is today. He recently costarred in a Lifetime movie alongside Mario Lopez, entitled FELIZ NAVIDAD, and was a series regular on TBS’ THE DRESS UP GANG. His half-hour HBO MAX special SUPERHOMIES premiered summer 2021. Frankie tours as himself but also as Creeper (a reformed cholo turned fitness guru) and Juanita Carmelita (a spicy suburban drama queen). Frankie’s characters have racked up millions of views, and Creeper’s CHOLOFIT exercise routines have become viral sensations. Frankie’s repertoire of characters also includes party bro Afradooshie, feel-good guardian angel Pachanga, and he’s got plenty more ready to debut. In addition to his stand-up and online sketches, Frankie voices key characters in Cartoon Network’s VICTOR AND VALENTINO, and in HBO MAX’s upcoming animated series, FIRED ON MARS. Additionally, he has made appearances on Comedy Central, HBO, TBS, and Nickelodeon.

“The Frankie Quiñones Show” podcast presented by Will Ferrell’s Big Money Players Network and iHeart Radio. New episodes every Wednesday.
