Every new year comes with it’s own new beginnings.

Comedian/actress Anjelah Johnson-Reyes is set to begin her own new journey, this time into the land of motherhood.

On January 1st, the San Jose, California native took to social media to post a joyful message announcing that her along with husband Manwell Reyes are expecting the birth of their first child.

Happy New Year. I’m pregnant. Anjelah Johnson-Reyes wrote on her Facebook/Instagram

After the announcement, Anjelah would receive positive comments and remarks from many of her friends and family, including fellow comedians Bresha Webb, Jo Koy, Heather McDonald, Nikki Glaser, and Yvonne Orjii.

An actress, comedian, author, and former NFL cheerleader, Johnson-Reyes first garnered national attention as a cast member on FOX’s MADtv in the late 2000s. Her characters included a Vietnamese nail salon employee named Mỹ Linh/Tammy and a rude fast food employee turned music star named Bon Qui Qui (the latter of which has become popular outside of Johnson’s short stint on the show).

By the end of the decade, Comedy Central would release her first stand-up comedy special entitled Anjelah Johnson: That’s How We Do It.

The success from the special would immediately turn Anjelah into one of the hottest latin comedy acts in the country. Since then, Johnson-Reyes has released three more comedy specials including Homecoming Show, Anjelah Johnson: Not Fancy, and Mahalo & Goodnight.

She also appeared in the films Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel and Our Family Wedding, and provided her voice for the live-action adaptation of Marmaduke.

In 2022, Johnson-Reyes released her first book titled My Who Do I Think I Am?: Stories of Chola Wishes and Caviar Dreams, a hilarious and thoughtful memoir that explores questions of identity, belonging, and her two dreams as a kid: to be an actress and to be a chola.

Don’t miss Anjelah Johnson-Reyes when she comes to a city near you as a part of her 2023 Who Do I Think I Am comedy tour.
