Netflix has unveiled the Lift release date and first-look photo for its upcoming action comedy titled Lift, starring Kevin Hart and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
Originally scheduled for an August 2023 release, the Lift release date has officially been pushed back to next year and is now slated to make its Netflix debut on January 12, 2024.
This marks Hart’s latest collaboration with the streamer after working together in films like the comedy-drama Fatherhood and the buddy comedy Me Time, as well as in the variety special Kevin Hart’s Guide to Black History.
Mbatha-Raw also previously appeared in the popular San Junipero episode of Netflix’s Black Mirror series.
Lift is directed by F. Gary Gray from a screenplay written by Daniel Kunka and Jeremy Donner.
Joining Hart and Mbatha-Raw in Lift are Vincent D’Onofrio, Billy Magnussen, Úrsula Corberó, Kim Yoon-ji, Viveik Kalra, Paul Anderson, Sam Worthington, Jacob Batalon, Jean Reno, and Burn Gorman.
It is being described as an action movie about an international heist crew recruited to prevent a terrorist attack mid-flight. Hart is playing master thief who gets involved in the heist after being convinced by his ex-girlfriend.
Lift is executive produced by Gray, Brent O’Connor, and Patricia Braga, with Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon for Genre Pictures, Matt Reeves and Adam Kassan for 6th & Idaho, and Hart and Brian Smiley for HartBeat Productions serving as producers.
