Seminal filmmaker Ethan Coen has set the first trailer for his new feature Drive-Away Dolls, a comedy caper starring Margaret Qualley (Sanctuary) and Geraldine Viswanathan (Cat Person).

Set for release in theaters nationwide via Focus Features on Friday, September 22nd, Coen’s latest solo effort follows Jamie (Qualley), an uninhibited free spirit bemoaning yet another breakup with a girlfriend, and her demure friend Marian (Viswanathan) who desperately needs to loosen up. In search of a fresh start, the two embark on an impromptu road trip to Tallahassee, but things quickly go awry when they cross paths with a group of inept criminals along the way.

Also starring Beanie Feldstein (The Humans), Colman Domingo (upcoming The Color Purple), Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us), Bill Camp (Boston Strangler) and Matt Damon (Air), the film is written by Coen & Tricia Cooke, who produced alongside Robert Graf, as well as Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner.

A potential awards contender likely to bow on the festival circuit, Drive-Away Dolls is set to open on the 22nd opposite Sony’s Dumb Money and Lionsgate’s Expend4bles, in a moment at the start of fall with little other competition.

Focus Features most recently released Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City on June 16 and also has coming up titles including Nia Vardalos’ My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 (September 8) and Alexander Payne’s dramedy The Holdovers (November 10) starring Paul Giamatti, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Carrie Preston.
