Peacock has officially announced the Season 2 renewal of its dark comedy thriller Based on a True Story, which stars Emmy nominee Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina.
This comes after over four months since the 8-episode first season made its debut. Further details about its next installment are still being kept under wraps. “Season 1 centered around Ava (Cuoco) and her husband Nathan (Messina), a down-on-their-luck couple, whose lives collide with an infamous serial killer terrorizing Los Angeles and seize a unique opportunity to capitalize on America’s obsession with true crime by making a podcast with the killer,” reads the logline.
Based on a True Story is written, executive produced, and created by Craig Rosenberg (The Boys). The first season was loosely inspired by a true story. Joining Cuoco’s Ava and Messina’s Nathan are Tom Bateman, Priscilla Quintana, Liana Liberato, Natalia Dyer, Alex Alomar Akpobome, Aisha Alfa, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, June Diane Raphael, Lizze Broadway, Li Jun Li, and more.
Executive producers are Jason Bateman, Michael Costigan, and Roxie Rodriguez for Aggregate Films, along with Melissa Blake and Alex Buono, who is also directing two episodes. It is a production by UCP.
