Sleeping with Sarah is a podcast where Sarah Albritton, a narcoleptic comedian, interviews people in her bed as they talk about sleep, comedy, and relationships.

In this episode, Sarah shares her bed with friend and fellow comedian Erica Rhodes as they discuss various topics, including touring, resting, and being weird.

Erica Rhodes: Erica starred in the cult horror film Plague Town and recently wrapped a supporting role in Play Nice, directed by Rodman Flender and starring Mary Lynn Rajskub.  She also starred in Big Sky, an indie road trip movie that followed a young couple’s journey from L.A. to Montana.   Erica co-created and starred in the award-winning web series Apt. 45, but is probably best known for the character of Sandy in Iron Sink Media’s web series Upstairs Girls and her own hit spin-off Sandy’s Channel.  Collectively, those two web series have had an astonishing quarter billion hits. In 2011, Erica was nominated for an LA Comedy Award for “Most Hilarious Leading Actress in a Web Series.”

She produced and starred (with Ray Wise and Oscar nominee Sally Kirkland) in the short film Posey which premiered at the 2013 Idyllwild Cinema Fest and made the festival rounds, garnering many awards.   Erica was also nominated by the 2015 Los Angeles Short Film Festival as “Best Actress” for her work in The Platinum Plan.   Recent TV credits include ABC’s Modern Family, Fox’s New Girl, IFC’s Comedy BangBang and Comedy Central’s @ Midnight and Why? With Hannibal Buress.  Erica has also guested on The Howard Stern Wrap-up Show on Sirius XM after being named on his site as number one of the top nine comics to watch.

Erica co-hosts Bil Dwyer’s Stardumb!, a game and talk show comedy hybrid that has sold out three times at San Francisco Sketchfest, and stars major guest comedy players like Zach Galifianakis, Simon Helberg, Oscar Nunez, Adam Scott, Mike White, and Maria Bamford.  She is also a fast-rising standup comic with appearances on Comedy Central’s @ Midnight, AXS’ Live at Gotham and the syndicated Comics Unleashed.  In 2015, she performed standup at San Francisco Sketchfest, the Moontower Comedy Festival (Austin, TX), the Blue Whale Comedy Festival (Tulsa, OK), and the Boston Comedy Festival.

Sarah Albritton: Called “a tour de force” by Lost in Theatreland, Sarah Albritton is probably the most ambitious narcoleptic you’ll ever know. Instead of shying away from her disability, she’s embraced it through comedy and screenwriting. She recently premiered her hour-long solo comedy show “Awake and Narcoleptic” at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It was a Playbill Pick of the Fringe, which referred to her “whip-smart humor” and suggested the show would be “at home on a Netflix special”.

As a stand-up comedian, she’s performed all over the country. In LA has shared the stage with notable comedians including Bill Burr, Sarah Silverman, Tiffany Haddish, Craig Robinson, and Nikki Glazer. She’s been a finalist for Page Sceenwriting Awards for Comedy TV Pilot.

The sleep theme in her work doesn’t stop there as she’s the host of the podcast Sleeping with Sarah, where she interviews guests in bed. Started as an audio podcast with over 100 episodes, she recently relaunched it as a video show on YouTube. Notable guests include Jeff Dye, Aaron Branch, Or Mash, and Madison Sinclair.

Described by the Chicago Tribune as “vulnerable and honest”, Sarah’s stand up not only incorporates her narcolepsy material, but also covers personal stories, dating mishaps, and her genuine (and not at all paranoid) fear of AI technology. She’s opened for Ralphie May and has performed in countless festivals including Cleveland Comedy Fest, Broken Record Comedy Show with Wild West Comedy Fest,  and Gilda’s Laughfest. She also co-created and starred in the SAG New Media web series Super Narcoleptic Girl with Catherine Povinelli.

Before moving to LA, Sarah got her feet wet in comedy in Chicago. There she created the long-running variety show Secrets, Lies, and Alibis and was a writer/performer on POV, a weekly topical sketch show at iO Chicago. She’s completed Second City Conservatory, iO Chicago, and been in too many sketch and improv groups to name.

Though she lacks a southern accent, Sarah hails from Louisville KY, where she started acting in plays with Walden Theater (now Commonwealth Theater). She later graduated from NIU School of Theater and Dance and British American Drama Academy.
Since moving to LA she’s stayed busy and previously produced the shows Bad Sides at the Hollywood Improv Lab, Stage Gap at Westside Comedy Club and Wild Weird Comedy. She spends her days performing, creating characters, writing scripts, and trying her best to stay awake.
