Just days after Seth Rogen hinted at more episodes being likely, Platonic Season 2 has been confirmed to be in the works at Apple TV+. The renewal isn’t too surprising given the half-hour comedy series has proven to be a hit for the streamer since its premiere this past May.
“We’re so thrilled to have the opportunity to tell more stories with Seth, Rose, and everyone at Apple TV+ and Sony,” co-creators Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco said of Platonic Season 2 (via Deadline). “Season Two spoiler alert: Will and Sylvia won’t get together this time either.”
“Since the first episodes of Platonic debuted on Apple TV+, global audiences have been charmed by the hilarious, wildly fun and relatable friendship that Rose and Seth have brought to life through their charismatic performances,” Matt Cherniss, Apple TV+’s head of programming stated of the renewal. “We can’t wait for viewers to see these characters encounter even more comedic mayhem in season two thanks to our partners at Sony and to the brilliant minds of Francesca and Nick.”
Platonic is created, written, and directed by Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco. In addition to starring, Rogen and Rose Byrne serve as executive producers. The series also features Luke Macfarlane (Bros), Tre Hale, Carla Gallo (Neighbors films), and Andrew Lopez.
The Apple TV+ series is executive produced by Stoller, Delbanco, and Conor Welch. It is a production by Sony Pictures Television.
