Janelle James: A New York/Los Angeles-based comedian/actress. Janelle is currently a series regular on the ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary. Her critically acclaimed role as “Principal AVA” has garnered James wins for [Best Supporting Actress, Comedy] from the Hollywood Critics Association and Black Reel Awards as well as nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award, Critics’ Choice Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, and Independent Spirit Award.

She has toured with Chris Rock, Amy Schumer, and David Cross, among others (TOURED not opened once), then took over the reign of the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival (now The Janelle James Comedy Festival) in Brooklyn. James was included in the Just For Laughs Montreal’s New Faces category for 2016, named one of The 50 Most Funny People in Brooklyn 2016, and more recently, Variety’s Top Ten Comedians to Watch 2020. Her debut comedy album, Black and Mild was released September/2017 on all major streaming networks and is still hilarious. Janelle wrote and appeared on Showtime’s Black Monday, writing and voicing a character on Central Park for Apple TV. Her podcast You In Danger Gurl was listed as one of Spotify’s top comedy podcasts for 2020.
