HBO has ordered a comedy pilot starring Rachel Sennott, Deadline reported on Monday. Sennott will also write and executive produce the half-hour pilot.

Per Deadline, the untitled project is about “a codependent friend group reunites, navigating how the time apart, ambition and new relationships have changed them.”

Emma Barrie and Aida Rodgers will executive produce alongside Sennott. The project has drawn comparisons to Girls and Insecure, two female-led HBO comedies created by Lena Dunham and Issa Rae, respectively.

Sennott has been a rising star in the comedy world since her breakout role in 2020’s Shiva Baby. Sennott was in the main cast of Call Your Mother, a short-lived ABC sitcom that lasted one season in 2021. In 2022, Sennott appeared in Bodies Bodies Bodies, A24’s horror comedy directed by Halina Reijn.

In 2023, Sennott starred in HBO’s The Idol, the controversial series from Sam Levinson and The Weeknd about the rise and fall of a pop star played by Lily-Rose Depp. Later that year, Sennott headlined Bottoms alongside Ayo Edebiri.

Sennott is currently filming SNL 1975, a biopic about the origins of Saturday Night Live. Sennott is playing former SNL writer Rosie Shuster.
