Stand-up comedians Andrew Santino & Bobby Lee have been hosting the massive comedy podcast, Bad Friends, a mainstay comedy podcast in the stand-up space for nearly the past five years. Since the beginning of this show, Santino & Lee have taken their podcast on a nationwide sold out tour this past year and have also each seen a sizable boom in their stand-up & acting ventures.
And now, the multi-hyphenates are taking their podcast to the next level and developing it into an adult animated series at Hulu (first reported by Deadline).
Per the official log line, the tv show Bad Friends “follows the relationship between Andrew, a fiery lightning bug, and Bobby, a shy rolly polly, as they navigate the treacherous waters of being adolescent misfit bugs in high school.”
This new show would add to the growing catalog of adult animated series at Hulu including Solar Opposites & the Futurama revival. With Santino’s involvement at Hulu in the FX series Dave, it only makes sense to see this new show in development be a great home for Hulu.
Bad Friends, the series, is created by Lee, Nick Kreiss, Santino and Andres Salaff, with the first season episodes to be written by Kreiss and Santino. Lee, Santino and Kreiss executive produce with Trevor Engelson from Underground and Doug Banker from Five All In The Fifth. Salaff is a co-executive producer. 20th Television Animation is the studio. We look forward to seeing this show come to fruition!
