How did you discover your passion for comedy:
I didn’t have cable growing up, so I discovered standup in a roundabout way by watching sitcoms in the 90s – Home Improvement, The Drew Carey Show, Roseanne. And then when I moved to Orlando and discovered open mic comedy, it finally become accessible and I got to try it!

Atlanta has a lot of independent shows and StarBar is my favorite!
How do you judge success in the world of comedy:
Success is when someone asks, “what have I seen you on?” and you can give them an answer! But real success is a long career of doing what you love.

Katie Hughes, Zain Sharif, Lace Larrabee and Caley Synan are all amazing comics that are from or currently in Atlanta.

My first comedy taping was definitely the most memorable, and it was at The Creek and the Cave in Austin!
What have you learned most from your failures in comedy:
Everyone has failures, and the most important thing is to keep going.
How do people react toward you when they realize that you can make people laugh:
Surprise, mostly. Then they have questions or their own jokes to share!
Describe building a career in stand-up comedy:
(Laughs) It’s just such a long process and I’m not there yet! I mostly host and feature with a few headlining spots here and there. I do love traveling for comedy, though!
If you could change one thing in the world of comedy, what would it be:
Equality. The regular world needs this too!
Best advice you’ve ever received from a comedian:
Every other comic’s advice is just their opinion, follow your own path.

When a celebrity (can’t name) repeatedly kept hitting on me in front of his fans even though he knew I was engaged.

Someone’s basement probably, or a pottery studio.

I’m from the Shark Bite Capital of the world…and I still love to get in the water there!
Where would you like your laughs to take you:
My own tv show would be great!
What would you tell a potential comedian if they ask you how they can own the laughs:
Write what you think is funny, not what you think other people want to hear.
What are your thoughts on the future of comedy:
I try not to worry about it!
If you could write an episode for ONE classic TV sitcom, which show would it be:
An episode of FRIENDS: The One Where They Play Pictionary and everyone almost dies because of Monica’s competitiveness.
If you could choose ONE comedy club and THREE comedians to perform with on your perfect comedy show, how would it go:
I would get to headline at Comedy Cellar! I would have celebrity drop-ins: Dave Attell, Beth Stelling, Dave Chapelle.
What’s next for you:
I have some meetings with management companies coming up, and another comedy taping!
Why should a person always laugh at life:
Because we’re all going to die one day.
