Part comedy, part social commentary, Roots of Comedy features host stand-up comedian/actor Jesus Trejo embarking on a journey across America to meet with six rising comedians who explore the mosaic of our nation through the lens of stand-up comedy.
Jesus Trejo: Jesus Trejo is one of the fastest-rising names in the stand-up comedy scene. Born and raised in Long Beach, Trejo’s first-hour stand-up special STAY AT HOME SON for Showtime, aired summer of 2020.
He can be seen recurring as the role of Mr. Trujillo on the Netflix series MR. IGLESIAS, and in roles on ALONE TOGETHER (Freeform) and TEACHERS (TV Land) and recently on GENTEFIED (Netflix).
Jesus is also the host of Tacos Con Todo (currently in pre-production for season 3), a series from Complex/First We Feast (HOT ONES) in which he navigates the LA taco scene with celebrity guests. Jesus was named a Variety Top 10 Comic to watch at JFL in 2017 and is a paid regular at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles. Kicking off in January 2022, EMPTY CALORIE TOUR is Jesus Trejo’s first official International comedy tour.
In this episode, Jesus Trejo travels to Denver to meet a comic whose life on the river is as important as his life on stage. Eeland Stribling strives to find true life balance in the outdoors of Colorado where he often calls on his experience as a wildlife biologist.

When he’s not making audiences laugh in Denver, Eeland regularly tours across the country. His favorite comedy stops includes Boston, Chicago, New York, LA, and Austin. He has been selected to perform at many festivals like, High Plains Comedy Festival, 10k Laughs, Limestone, Alaska Comedy Festival, Cloudtop Comedy Festival, Jokechella, Boulder Comedy Festival and more.
But comedy isn’t his only talent—he’s also a wildlife biologist and environmental educator. Has been called the “Black Steve Irwin,” probably because he’s just as likely to hug a bear as he is to crack a joke about one. Recently chosen to share his story on an episode of Roots of Comedy on PBS with Jesus Trejo. He loves teaching folks about the wonders of nature. And if you’re lucky, you might just catch him in your city teaching the community about fly fishing and caring about nature.
