Netflix on Monday morning revealed Ok, Mister as the title of its new comedy special from Deon Cole, teased back in May, announcing that it’ll premiere globally on the streamer on September 17.

Ok, Mister is Cole’s third special for Netflix on the heels of Charleen’s Boy and Cole Hearted, which were respectively released in 2022 and 2019. In his new hour, filmed at Netflix Is a Joke Fest in Los Angeles, Cole riffs on the telltale signs of aging, bedroom mishaps, dating deal-breakers and more.

Ryan Polito directed the special, for which Cole, Kirsten Ames and John Irwin served as executive producers. Irwin Entertainment was the production company.

In between the release of his two Netflix specials, Cole put out Workin’ It Out, a stand-up documentary released exclusively on Netflix is a Joke’s YouTube channel, which has there garnered 2.4 million views to date. Cole’s first one-hour special, Cole Blooded Seminar, was released by Comedy Central in 2016.

An Emmy-nominated comedian, writer, and actor, who can currently be seen playing the title role in Average Joe, a BET+ comedy series heading into its second season, Cole is perhaps best known for his NAACP Image Award-winning role as Charlie on ABC’s Black-ish and Freeform’s Grown-ish. Also previously starring opposite Rashida Jones on the TBS comedy Angie Tribeca, his film credits include Blitz Bazawule’s critically acclaimed remake of The Color Purple, Kenya Barris and Jonah Hill’s You People for Netflix, Jeymes Samuel’s Netflix Western The Harder They Fall, and the Barbershop series, among other titles. Up next, he’ll be seen starring alongside Colman Domingo on Netflix’s political thriller series The Madness.

Nominated for a pair of Emmys and a trio of WGA Awards recognizing his writing on Conan and The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.
