Misery Loves Mandy is a Mostly Happy Podcast hosted by comedian Mandy Martino; weekly comedians discuss miserable moments and whether or not they made them into jokes.

Mandy Martino: Mandy Martino is a stand-up comedian, writer and actress. Originally from South Florida, Mandy received her Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Central Florida in business, which helps her professionally write dick jokes. While in college she began her comedy career at SAKs Comedy Lab and The Orlando Improv.

Once in LA she continued her love for comedy where she followed her SNL idols and studied at The Groundlings Theater and School. You can find Mandy performing stand-up all around Los Angeles.

In this week’s episode, Laura Severse is miserable about getting a terrible ’80s haircut, constantly falling down, and getting fired for accidentally sending an inappropriate email to her entire company.

Laura Severse: Laura Severse is a native Boston comic, actor, and writer. She is a devoted wife, working mother of two, and a gifted storyteller. Laura brings her hard-working, heartfelt approach to life to stages across the country. Laura’s attitude is equal parts bold, brash, kind, and gentle but always funny. She finds humor in everything from climbing the corporate ladder to the trials and tribulations of raising two young children in the heart of a changing city in the midst of a changing world. Audiences have no choice but to be swept up in the joy, pathos, and sheer excitement of a city kid who’s seen it all and can’t wait for more. She is a true Dorchester Debutante with a killer accent and a lifelong addiction to gold hoops, the bigger the better.

Laura has opened for Tim Dillon, Iliza Schlesinger, Big Jay Oakerson, Jay Larson, and Erik Griffin. She has performed with Gary Gulman, Lenny Clarke, and Jimmy Tingle. Laura regularly headlines Nick’s Comedy Stop, The Comedy Scene, The Attic, and venues all over New England and beyond. She is a featured performer at Laugh Boston and WooHaHa. Laura has participated in the Rogue Island Comedy Festival, Boston Comedy Festival, HBO’s Women in Comedy Festival, Thunderfest and the CinderBlock Festival. She has participated in talent showcases for Comedy Central and Just for Laughs Montreal as well as multiple Best of Boston Comics Showcases. Laura is a former Comic-In-Residence at the Comedy Studio in Cambridge, MA. She has performed for WGBH Stories from the Stage and acted in several Tres Gatos Productions. Her most recent video, Tim Dillon’s, “The Wallet” was viewed by over 4 million people. She has performed all over the country from Los Angeles to New York City and is a beloved staple of New England comedy.
