HBO is heading down to Florida for its latest oddball comedy series.
The network is launching It’s Florida, Man, an irreverent comedy series from Danny McBride’s Rough House Pictures and Range Studios, the production arm of the Eastbound and Down co-creator’s management company.
The series will launch on Friday October 18 at 11pm and the weekly series will feature six episodes in its first season.
It features ripped-from-the-headlines tales of the Sunshine State about mermaids, witches, extreme fantasies, feral bunnies, and alligators.
Each episode will feature a range of guest stars – there are more than two dozen across the series – including Anna Faris, Randall Park, Jake Johnson, Jon Gries, Sam Richardson, Ego Nwodim, Juliette Lewis and Simon Rex.
Created by Range Studios’ President of Non-Scripted TV Mark Herwick and Jeff Tomsic, who directed 2018 film Tag starring Ed Helms, Jon Hamm, Jeremy Renner, Hannibal Buress and Johnson. Tomsic will direct the series.
Exec producers include Herwick, Tomsic, Danny McBride and Brandon James for Rough House Pictures, and Bryan Storkel.
It’s Florida, Man is the latest quirky, low-cost comedy to launch on HBO on Friday nights following series such as A Black Lady Sketch Sketch Show and Julio Torres’ Fantasmas and Los Espookys.
