After announcing its debut last month, Punch-Up: Stand Up at The Second City New York is marking a new chapter for the iconic institution The Second City as it expands into the stand-up comedy scene at its New York outpost. A rotating cast of New York’s best comedians & secret guests will take the stage every Wednesday night, backed by a live band for a uniquely “only in NY” comedy experience. This 90-minute showcase will feature rotating lineups of talented comedians, both comics on the rise and those who are household names.
As The Second City New York branches out with this new series, they aim to highlight stand-up comedy for the first time in the company’s history, further cementing their role in New York City’s vibrant comedy scene.
Punch Up is produced by veteran underground comedy booker Mikala Knezevich; the co-creator of Better Days, Ledge & Dairy; casting for Wild’N Out, That Damn Michael Che, This Week at The Comedy Cellar, Wendy and the Lost Boys. Amid cultivating the next class of comedic stars and initial success of Punch Up Knezevich adds “Adding Punch Up to The Second City’s programming only furthers the brand’s already legendary reputation of cultivating the next rising stars in comedy. This show is just the launching pad for all the exciting programming to come so stay tuned!”
In addition, stand-up comedian Derek Gaines will be filming his upcoming 60-minute special Goodlum next week at The Second City New York on December 10 and Anthony Devito will be premiering his latest hour, a hysterical stand-up storytelling journey about his family and organized crime titled JERSEY BOY: A TRUE CRIME STORY.
