Following an award-winning seven-year run on Comedy Central‘s The Daily Show, correspondent and contributor Dulcé Sloan has exited the late-night political news satire.
This was an amicable parting of ways, sources said, as Sloan’s deal was up and she’s relocated from New York to L.A. to focus more on her acting and stand-up. Her last episode aired in December. Currently, Sloan is working on a new comedy special and launching a new tour which will include a week-long stint at The Soho Theatre in London in March. She will also continue her work on Fox’s hit animated series The Great North, which just premiered its fifth season.
Sloan’s is the first big departure from The Daily Show since that of Roy Wood Jr., who exited as correspondent after eight years in October 2023. Host Trevor Noah stepped down the year prior, after a seven-year tenure, with former host Jon Stewart returning to anchor the series once a week, and correspondents rotating as hosts of the week’s other episodes.
“There is work that I’ve done over the past seven years with The Daily Show that I couldn’t be prouder of,” said Sloan in a statement to Deadline. “I collaborated with some incredibly talented people who I look forward to continuing to work with. I know our paths will continue to cross. I am now free to pursue my dream job of being a live action Klingon on Star Trek.”
A spokesperson for The Daily Show called Sloan “an exceptional comedic force,” adding, “we are thankful for her hilarious seven year run on The Daily Show. We wish her the best and look forward to watching her next chapter.”
Sloan garnered numerous accolades during her seven years at The Daily Show, which began in September 2017, capping her run with an Emmy win for Outstanding Talk Series in 2024 shared with four others. Other honors earned included a 2024 GLAAD Award Nomination for Outstanding Variety or Talk Show Episode for her interview with RuPaul’s Drag Race‘s Sasha Colby on what it means to be a happy trans person. In 2023, she won The Silver Anthem Award and also a Webby Award for Best Comedy Podcast for Hold Up, her podcast with fellow comic and Daily Show correspondent Josh Johnson. She won an NAACP Image Award in both 2022 and 2023 and has been nominated a total of five times.
Previously putting out a special as part of Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents and featuring on Netflix’s Verified Stand-Up, Sloan is a regular panelist and guest host of NPR’s Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me! and has appeared multiple times on CNN’s New Year’s Eve broadcast with Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper. Seen in films like the indie comedy Chick Fight opposite Malin Ackerman and Alec Baldwin, her work outside of The Daily Show has also included the book Hello Friends: Stories of Dating, Destiny, and Day Jobs, which Penguin Random House published this past February.
