Brett Goldstein, one of the stars and writers of Apple’s Ted Lasso, has landed his first stand-up comedy special.

The British comedian’s The Second Best Night Of Your Life show will air on HBO next month.

Goldstein has been touring The Second Best Night Of Your Life show for some time; he performed it at the Netflix is a Joke festival in 2024. While he touches on Ted Lasso, the special is more about relationships and sex. He also breaks out into song (at some shows)

The special is believed to have been filmed in Englewood, New Jersey last month, where Goldstein is believed to be shooting Office Romance alongside Jennifer Lopez.

While Goldstein is best known as Roy Kent in Apple’s soccer comedy Ted Lasso, he is also the creator and executive producer of Shrinking alongside Jason Segel and Bill Lawrence, which has just been renewed for a third season. He also stars alongside Imogen Poots in feature All of You for Apple.

But Goldstein has been doing stand-up for some time; he did his first Edinburgh Festival show For 21 Nights Only!, returning the following year for Brett Goldstein Grew Up In A Strip Club, in 2013 for Brett Goldstein Contains Scenes of an Adult Nature and 2015’s Brett Goldstein: Burning Man.

Goldstein exec produces the special alongside Matthew Vaughn, Molly Mandel and Jeff Tomsic, who directs.

Goldstein said, “I’m so excited to do my first special, not on TV but on HBf**kingO!”

Nina Rosenstein, EVP, HBO Programming, Late Night and Specials, quote: “We all know Brett as an incredibly gifted writer and actor, but his roots are in stand up. He has a razor sharp, dark sense of humor and is the perfect combination of British gentleman and cheeky troublemaker. We are so, so happy to work with him on his first special.”
