How did you discover your passion for comedy:
I always liked joking and laughing with the homies, and after a few years of wasting my time at a desk job, I tried an open mic and haven’t stopped since.

What do you remember most about your first time performing stand-up comedy:
I remember not knowing how it worked. I thought people went off the top of their heads every time. I went up, drew a blank on stage, and got violently booed off.

How would you describe your comedic style:
I like to try to incorporate all styles into my comedy. It’s a blend of one-liners, sarcastic shit-talking, and stories people can relate to.

Describe your process for comedic writing:
My process starts with an idea. Putting that idea to paper. Writing out all possible ways to go with the joke and then taking it stage to work it out.

Describe the comedy scene in your area:
Phoenix has an amazing comedy scene that keeps getting bigger. We have six major clubs and multiple mics during the week to work out material.

How do you judge success in the world of comedy:
Success is different for everybody, but overall, if you can make people laugh, move some tickets, and get some free drinks/food. You’re more successful than most.

Who are some of your comedic peers that you enjoy watching perform or inspire you personally and professionally:
Luis Alvarez is my brother in comedy. this dude is one of the funniest on and off stage. He’s helped me a lot on how to get the most out of jokes and how to maneuver through the bs in the game. And the success of homies like Ralph Barbosa and Rene Vaca is hard not to be inspired by.

What’s been your most memorable moment in comedy:
I’ve been fortunate enough to work with a lot of amazing comedians. The most memorable was being able to work with Joe Rogan and Tony Hinchcliffe at StandUp Live.

What have you learned most from your failures in comedy:
I’ve learned that you get out what you put into this game.

How do people react toward you when they realize that you can make people laugh:
It’s usually the same reaction, “Oh you’re a comedian?! Tell me a joke!”

Describe building a career in stand-up comedy:
It’s a steady grind like anything else. You just have to try and keep leveling up every year.

If you could change one thing in the world of comedy, what would it be:
The sensitive Karen’s that come to shows with no sense of humor at all.

Best advice you’ve ever received from a comedian:
The best advice has to be to keep writing or keep your day job.

If you were releasing a comedy special this week, what would it be called:
“Homie Time”

Funniest encounter you’ve ever had with a celebrity:
I always embarrass myself, trying to seem cool. I got to work with D.L. Hughley last minute, and he was nice enough to invite me to work the rest of the weekend, and I said “shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit I ain’t got anything else going on”

Weirdest place you’ve ever performed any form of comedy:
Comedy takes you to weird places, but the weirdest one was a random show for a birthday party in Yuma Arizona.

A Reece Muniz Fun Fact:
Other than being extremely handsome. I’m secretly a superb athlete. I like to get buckets on people at LA Fitness, and I can hit a golf ball a quarter mile.

Where would you like your laughs to take you:
If the laughs could take me around the world that would be a dream come true.

What would you tell a potential comedian if they ask you how they can own the laughs:
Download a laugh track.

What are your thoughts on the future of comedy:
The future is bright. A lot of outlets to pave your own way and a lot of great comedians on the rise.

If you could choose ONE comedy club and THREE comedians to perform with on your perfect comedy show, how would it go:
It’d have to be me and the homies, Peter Jordan and Luis Alvarez. It could be any club, but getting really ignorant at the Tempe Improv would be legendary.

What’s next for you:
Going to keep going to work. Keep building my brand. I’ve started producing my own show called “Homie Time,” where I have the best comedians before and follow it with a musical performance. Right now, my house band is Prime Society. They’re a neo-soul funk band. Keep creating content such as comedy clips and my golf channel with Peter Jordan called Homie Time Golf.

Why should a person always laugh at life:
Because we’re all gonna die one day.
