If Colin Jost does end up leaving Saturday Night Live after this weekend’s season finale, his first post-SNL role is coming into focus.

As first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Jost has joined the cast of The Breadwinner, the feature film debut of breakout SNL host Nate Bargatze. Bargatze will star in the project, which he co-wrote with Dan Lagana.

Bargatze’s film casts the comic as a man (also named Nate) whose supermom wife (Mandy Moore) lands a deal on Shark Tank, forcing her to become the family breadwinner while Nate takes on the role of stay-at-home dad.

Jost’s role in the project is being kept under wraps as of now.

The Breadwinner will reteam Jost with two other SNLers: Martin Herlihy, the Please Don’t Destroy member who currently serves as a writer and sometimes performer on SNL, and Will Forte, who was on the cast for Jost’s first five years as a writer on the show.

The Breadwinner is directed by Eric Appel, who made his feature directorial debut in 2022 with Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. Bargatze’s Nateland Entertainment banner is co-producing the project with TriStar Pictures.

Jost is fresh off hosting 40 episodes of Amazon Prime Video’s Pop Culture Jeopardy!, which has not yet announced plans for another season. He previously starred in the 2021 feature film Tom & Jerry.

The Breadwinner is set for release on March 13, 2026.
