Marcello Hernandez Joins Cast Of “72 Hours”

Marcello Hernandez is about to embark on a fictional three-day bender with Kevin Hart.

The “Saturday Night Live” breakout comedian has booked a major supporting role in Hart’s next film “72 Hours,” set up at Netflix.

Hart will play a 40-something executive who hopes to save his flailing career by joining a group of twenty-somethings on a wild bachelor party weekend — an opportunity Hart seizes on after inadvertently getting added to the a group text.

Hernandez will play the groom’s best man and official bachelor party captain. Groomsmen are currently being cast.

This is the first big feature role for Hernandez, the Cuban-Dominican star who has charmed audiences with “Weekend Update” confessionals about his childhood and viral skits as Domingo, a lady killer who perpetually seduces a married woman (Chloe Fineman) in a parody of the Sabrina Carpenter song “Espresso.” Last month, he joined the voice cast of the Paramount’s second sequel in the animated “Angry Birds” franchise alongside KeKe Palmer and Jason Sudeikis.

“72 Hours” will be directed by veteran comedy helmer Tim Story (“Barbershop,” “The Blackening”). represents the fifth collaboration for Hart and director Story, who previously made “Think Like a Man” and the “Ride Along” series. Each of their previous outings led the box office at opening and have collectively earned a global haul of $445 million.

Matt Mider, Kevin Burrows, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg penned the script, the latter two on the original draft. John Davis and John Fox of Davis Entertainment will produce with Story.

Hernandez will close out the latest season of “SNL” this weekend. He is represented by CAA, LBI and attorney Patti Felker.
