Apple TV+ has unveiled the trailer for Stick, an upcoming sports comedy starring Owen Wilson as a former pro golfer.
It is set to arrive on the streaming giant on Wednesday, June 4.
In addition to Wilson starring as the washed-up pro golfer Pryce Cahill, the forthcoming 10-episode series also stars Peter Dager (Insidious: The Red Door) as the young golf prodigy Santi, who Pryce will turn his attention to in an attempt to get another taste of his old life.
The trailer for Stick opens with Wilson’s Pryce, who — while at a bar — is approached by a man named Mitts who instantly recognizes Pryce as a big professional golfer known as Stick. He then remembered how Pryce’s once-promising career ended after a breakdown on live television. Several years later, Pryce meets a promising young golfer who could be his shot at a new life.
The official synopsis reads: “In “Stick,” Owen Wilson stars as Pryce Cahill, an over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer whose career was derailed prematurely 20 years ago. After the collapse of his marriage and getting fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store, Pryce hedges his bets, and future, entirely on a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom named Santi (Peter Dager).”
Stick, billed as “a heartfelt, feel-good comedy,” also stars Marc Maron (GLOW), Mariana Treviño (A Man Called Otto), Lilli Kay as Zero, Judy Greer as Amber-Linn, and Timothy Olyphant. The series will also feature guest appearances from real-life pro golfers like Collin Morikawa, Keegan Bradley, Max Homa, Wyndham Clark, and more. Broadcasters Jim Nantz and Trevor Immelman, Good Good’s Matt Scharff, Brad Dalke and Garrett Clark, as well as golf reporter Dan Rapaport will also appear in the series.
Stick hits Apple TV+ on June 4.
