Netflix has renewed The Four Seasons for a second installment.

The eight-episode first season, which landed on the streamer May 1, is based on the 1981 feature film of the same name directed by Alan Alda, who also starred.

Alda has a cameo in the show, co-created by star Tina Fey, Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield. The main cast includes Fey as Kate, Will Forte as Jack, Colman Domingo as Danny, Marco Calvani as Claude, Steve Carell as Nick, Erika Henningsen as Ginny and Kerri Kenney-Silver as Anne.

Described as “a love letter to long marriages and old friendships,” the show follows a group of six friends who are heading on a vacation together when Carrell’s Nick drops the bomb that he wants to leave his wife Anne. From there, the three couples — one split up — navigate the new dynamic of splitting time between Nick and Anne while the other two pairs deal with their own struggles that come with being together a long time.

Two episodes each are dedicated to a separate trip between the main characters, who travel each season — spring, summer, fall and winter.

Domingo directed the sixth episode of the first season, titled “Ultimate Frisbee.” There is much to go off of after the penultimate episode and finale of Season 1 with one major character dying in a car crash and another getting pregnant.

The Four Seasons is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
