Comedian Caleb Hearon has inked an HBO deal for his debut comedy special, which will debut this fall after taping in Chicago later this week.

No logline for the hour was provided. Sandy Honig will direct the special, written and performed by Hearon, who is also exec producing alongside Dave Kneebone, Tovah Silbermann, Olivia Doud, and Janel Kranking.

In a statement on the deal, Nina Rosenstein, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming, Late Night & Specials, said, “We’re thrilled to work with Caleb on his first comedy special. He’s wildly funny and has a kind of emotional edge and honesty that feels totally his own. This special captures everything that makes him such a fresh and fearless voice in comedy.”

Said Hearon succinctly: “Thank you to HBO for the opportunity. I look forward to seeing what the platform will be called in the Fall.”

A rising star in the comedy space, Hearon is known for creating and hosting So True with Caleb Hearon, which received a 2025 iHeartPodcast Award nomination for Best Emerging Podcast and has topped the podcast charts weekly since its launch in February 2024, with over 23 million views on YouTube. Recently, he wrapped his sold-out headlining So True LIVE Tour, which included 20 stops across North America.

As an actor, Hearon was last seen starring alongside Kiernan Shipka and Nico Hiraga in Sweethearts, Jordan Weiss’ sweet twist on the rom-com for Max. Other screen credits include Ally Pankiw’s I Used to Be Funny opposite Rachel Sennott, Universal’s Jurassic World Dominion, FX’s Fargo, Showtime’s Work in Progress, and the MUNA music video “Silk Chiffon,” where he shared the screen with Phoebe Bridgers.
