Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane’s foul-mouthed teddy bear is coming back as Peacock has ordered a television series based on Ted from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and MRC Television.

MacFarlane is not yet confirmed to voice the character in the upcoming show, but is said to be “in negotiations” at this point. He will executive produce the program along with Erica Huggins for Fuzzy Door.

The live-action series is based on the two films by MacFarlane, the first of which wound up being the highest-grossing original R-rated comedy of all time (not a sequel or based on other IP). Both Ted and its sequel grossed over $750 million worldwide.

The original films also starred Mark Wahlberg as John Bennett, a Boston native that lives with his jumbo teddy bear, which came to life after a wish coincided with a shooting star. The original focused around Wahlberg’s character and his frustrations of still living with Ted, who refused to let him move on with his life. While the sequel followed Ted as looked to get civil rights and be recognized as a person.

This is the second series order since MacFarlane and Fuzzy Door signed an overall development deal with UCP in 2020. Earlier this year, Peacock announced a series order of The End is Nye hosted by Bill Nye, which is produced by by Universal Television Alternative Studio and UCP, divisions of Universal Studio Group, and Fuzzy Door.
