How did you discover your passion for comedy:
Depression. I wanted to become proactive about finding joy.
What do you remember most about your first time performing stand-up comedy:
My ponytail (extension) almost fell out as soon as I walked on the stage. Truly epic.
How would you describe your comedic style:
Insightful and edgy observations on stereotypes and the human condition.
Describe your process for comedic writing:
I write down everything that makes me laugh. I’m hilarious.
Describe the comedy scene in your area:
The comedy scene in my area is buzzing with new comics with very fresh perspectives, aiming to really redirect what we understand to be comedy.
How do you judge success in the world of comedy:
Maintaining clarity during performance is a huge way to gauge success for me. Everything beyond that is secondary.
Who are some of your comedic peers that you enjoy watching perform or inspire you personally and professionally:
Donny Comedy is a friend from Detroit who always delivers. I’m inspired by other people from the city doing and succeeding at what I’m doing.
What’s been your most memorable moment in comedy:
I’ve met people who I watched when I was a kid who have been in support of my work. That will always be wild to me.
What have you learned most from your failures in comedy:
You can never achieve success if you make it someone else’s responsibility.
How do people react toward you when they realize that you can make people laugh:
“You cute and you funny… that’s crazy.” Honestly, I should get it tatted.
Describe building a career in stand-up comedy:
I’ve allowed my love for the fun of comedy to guide my way. The business seems to follow that.
If you could change one thing in the world of comedy, what would it be:
More pay for comics!
Best advice you’ve ever received from a comedian:
“Push your pen; let the work speak.” That changed my trajectory.

Funniest encounter you’ve ever had with a celebrity:
Getting drunk at a bar with the person people liken me to was pretty fun.
Weirdest place you’ve ever performed any form of comedy:
A Barbershop, but it was lit.

Where would you like your laughs to take you:
No matter the medium, I hope to make as many people as I can laugh.

Do you and trust in yourself.
What are your thoughts on the future of comedy:
I think comedy is going to become more niche and particular. As new voices emerge, we’ll get to learn more about different perspectives.
If you could write ONE episode for ONE classic TV sitcom, which show would it be and give a brief detailed sentence on the episode:
Living Single for sure. I’d write a current-day episode where I play Maxine’s daughter.

What’s next for you:
A lot more comedy. More shows and some roles in scripted comedies.
Why should a person always laugh at life:
Life is never going to get easier; using laughter to help make it lighter can be a saving grace.
