Andrew Dice Clay (A Star Is Born) has been tapped for a role opposite Eddie Murphy in Amazon MGM Studios‘ forthcoming film The Pickup from director Tim Story (The Blackening), Deadline has learned.
Others in the cast, as previously announced, are Pete Davidson and Keke Palmer. The film is billed as a heist comedy, though specifics as to its plot remain under wraps. At time of release, it will become available to stream on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows penned the script. Producers on the project include John Davis and John Fox for Davis Entertainment; Murphy and Charisse Hewitt-Webster for Eddie Murphy Productions; and Story for The Story Company. Executive producers are Davis Entertainment’s Jeremy Stein, The Story Company’s Vicky Mara Story, Burrows, Ross Fanger, and Mider.
One of the world’s leading comedians, Clay has sold out hundreds of arenas across the country, including Madison Square Garden, over the years releasing numerous platinum-selling albums, and starring in stand-up specials for the likes of HBO and Showtime. On the acting front, he’s most recently been seen in the acclaimed Hulu miniseries Pam & Tommy, Bradley Cooper’s Oscar-winning romantic drama A Star Is Born, his own Showtime series Dice and indie sports drama Warrior Strong.
Previously, he’s also appeared in films like Blue Jasmine, as well as such series as Hap and Leonard, Vinyl and Entourage.
