Jon Stewart will take an extended dive into current events in a new The Weekly Show With Jon Stewart a Comedy Central podcast set to launch in June.

From MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Audio, the podcast will focus on “the most critical topics across current events,” featuring a variety of guests, including newsmakers, authors and celebrities. Produced by Paramount Audio in association with Busboy Productions, The Weekly Show With Jon Stewart will be available across all major podcast platforms.

“After much reflection, meditation, and prayer, I have decided to extend my work week to two days,” said Stewart. “All hail Comedy Central!”

“Jon’s return to The Daily Show has been a runway success – a powerful reminder of why he’s the voice of our generation and so critical to the national conversation,” said Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global Office of the CEO and President/CEO, Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios. “This new podcast enables Jon to delve even deeper into complex issues and make sense of it for all for us through his razor-sharp wit and indelible humor.”

Stewart kicked off his return to The Daily Show at Comedy Central in February after a nine-year absence, where he hosts one night a week alongside the News Team. With Stewart’s return, the late-night stape has seen the highest ratings since 2015.

After cracking a few jokes, Stewart turned serious in his return to the franchise. “I’ve learned one thing over these last nine years, and I was glib at best, and probably dismissive at worst about this, the work of making this world resemble one that you would prefer to live in is a lunchpail f*cking job, day in and day out where thousands of committed of smart and dedicated people bang on closed doors and pick up those that are fallen and grind away on issues until they get a positive result. Even then, have to stay on to make sure those result holds. The good news is I’m not saying you don’t have to worry about who wins the election, I’m saying you have to worry about every day before it and every day after, forever. Although, on the plus side, I’m told the sun will run out of hydrogen,” he said.

The franchise also has grown in the audio space following Stewart’s return, as The Daily Show: Ears Edition, produced by Paramount Audio, claimed a spot as a top 10 Comedy podcast.
