The cult classic Poog podcast has rebranded to Berlant and Novak and will operate under the Backyard Ventures network. Kate and Jacqueline are excited to move forward with whatever topics they so choose, be it: the artist’s grind, friendship, travel, food escapades, and more. These best friends, sisters really, unpack life’s greatest pleasures and struggles in a whole new format that feels just like coming home.
Poog garnered a devoted fanbase before its sudden and untimely demise, which devastated many. New York Magazine even featured the show’s seeming cancellation in their Culture Graphs, describing it as “highbrow/despicable.” Just a week after its abrupt end, Kate and Jacqueline launched an indie version behind a paywall, rapidly gaining subscribers. Now, they’re back and free for all listeners with Berlant and Novak. Dedicated Poog fans, lovingly called “hags,” will be thrilled to know that when asked in a recent AMA if they’re “still hags,” Kate and Jacqueline enthusiastically confirmed: “Yes, indeed!”
Kate and Jacqueline are two hilariously outspoken women who are ready to do their own thing, their own way. Kate Berlant is an Emmy-nominated actress, stand-up comedian, and writer known for her appearances in big festivals such as SXSW and the New York Comedy Festival and has notably acted in many movies such as “Don’t Worry Darling” and “Dream Scenario”. Kate is described as a “magnetic improvisational comic”. Jacqueline Novak is also an Emmy-nominated actress, stand-up comedian, writer, and published author most recently known for her Netflix comedy special, “Get On Your Knees” and is a frequent guest on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon”.
New brand sponsors for the feed include Dr. Loretta and Fatty15. The show’s premium paywall also generated over 3k+ subscribers in the first 3 days of being active. Matt Cisneros, Founder and CEO of Backyard Ventures said, “We’re ecstatic to bring Berlant and Novak to the BV network. Seeing what Kate and Jacqueline have created to date is so impressive and we look forward to being part of their continued success moving forward.”
Jacqueline Novak, host of the show said “We are thrilled to launch Berlant & Novak with the help of Backyard Ventures. After the sudden end of our previous podcast Poog, we were determined to create something new, different, and better…and do so quickly, not wanting to leave our fans podcast-less for long. The support from the Backyard Ventures team in getting an ad-supported feed up and running so quickly is extraordinary.”
