Jess Fuchs is obsessed with being thin.
In her debut comedy special, Jess interweaves the unfiltered insecurities of the audience, who anonymously confessed their deepest worries upon entering The Trocadero Room, with stories of growing up dyslexic, dealing with lazy doctors, and her belief that Jesus benefitted from pretty privilege.
From “everyone secretly finds me annoying” to “my lack of a father figure” to simply “saggy tits”—this show proves that we’re all walking around with something on our minds.
Fast-paced, quick-witted, and relatable AF, Thick & Thin is a deliciously hilarious 40-minute special from affable Sydney stand-up comedian Jess Fuchs.
Jess Fuchs: Jess began her comedy career in middle school, holding court every recess and lunch. She crowd-worked the girls and gays (closeted) who sat beside her, telling stories, imitating teachers and parents, and keeping her friends in stitches.
As she got older, Jess discovered that stand-up comedy was a job after watching televised Australian and international comedy festival gala performances. With her sights set on New York City, she begrudgingly finished university only to flee to NYC at 22.
There, Jess honed her craft, studying improv and sketch comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade. She spent her nights dipping around the city performing at the dingiest of bars and creakiest of stages. During her time in New York, she started the all-female improv troupe, Jane Don’t, performing across the US and internationally, including at The Second City in Toronto.
Returning to Sydney during the pandemic, Jess quickly made waves in the local comedy scene. Now, she’s a regular host at The Comedy Store Sydney and Comedy Republic in Melbourne, as well as a go-to opener for international acts like Fortune Feimster, Gianmarco Soresi, Morgan Jay, and Therapy Gecko.
A passionate and versatile comedic voice, Jess’s work reflects her dynamic range. In 2022, she performed across the globe, hitting comedy clubs and bars in London, Paris, Amsterdam, New York, and LA. In 2023, she created thRIFFting—a comedy interview series where she takes comedians shopping at her favourite thrift stores while interviewing them. Additionally, she co-created the live all-female and/or queer comedy showcase, One For The Girls & The Gays. The show will debut at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in March 2025.
In 2024, Jess launched her solo podcast What The Fuchs?!, where she entertains audiences weekly with her musings, complaints, and world views. That same year, Jess had multiple articles published in Fashion Journal Magazine [‘Why I Ditched Slimming Clothing’] and Refinery29 [‘How I Deal With Sexism As A Female Comedian’]. Dissecting pop culture moments through the lens of her personal experiences—from fashion, body image and/or comedy.
Beyond her own projects, Jess has collaborated with major Australian and international brands, including M&M’s, Hinge, Boost Juice, Modibodi, Pedestrian TV, AAMI Insurance, and Netflix. Whether hosting in a studio, interviewing people on the street, or writing and acting in sketches, Jess consistently creates engaging, comedy-forward content for every brand she works with.
And finally, with 2025 set to be an epic year, starting in March with the release of her debut stand-up special Thick & Thin on YouTube, take her hilarious, interactive, and playful show Sex Jokes For Women to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Sydney Comedy Festival and continue writing her monthly newsletter, host thRIFFting and What The Fuchs?! amongst many, many more comedy-related projects!
