CBS has lined up comedian Nate Bargatze to host the 77th Emmy Awards.

The ceremony will host air live coast to coast from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sept. 14.

“Nate is one of the hottest comics in the business with a remarkable and hilarious brand of comedy that deeply resonates with multi-generational audiences around the globe,” said Television Academy chair Cris Abrego in a statement. “We are thrilled to be able to leverage his one-of-a-kind perspective to entertain TV fans watching this year’s Emmy telecast.”

“It’s a huge honor to be asked to host such an iconic awards show and I’m beyond excited to work with CBS to create a night that can be enjoyed by families around the world,” added Bargatze in a statement.

Emmy nominations will be announced by the Television Academy on Tuesday, July 15 and will stream live at 8:30 a.m. PT on Emmys.com. The Emmys will be preceded by the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday, Sept. 6, and Sunday, Sept. 7.

Bargatze’s comedy shows sold more than 1.2 million tickets around the world in 2024. He hosted SNL for the second time last fall. Last December, Bargatze co-produced the holiday variety special, Nate Bargatze’s Nashville Christmas with Lorne Michaels for CBS.

The comedian also recently announced his new book from Grand Central Publishing, Big Dumb Eyes: Stories from a Simpler Mind, set to be published in May. He will soon star in the comedy The Breadwinner for TriStar Pictures, which he is also executive producing.
