Comedian Mojo Brookzz brings the laughs, stories, and drinks as he pulls up to Drink Champs for a candid conversation with N.O.R.E. and Cipha Sounds about his rise from viral internet sensation to one of comedy’s exciting emerging stand-up voices.
Throughout the episode, Brookzz opens up about the grind behind developing his stand-up while simultaneously building a massive online following through his popular comedy skits.
While social media helped introduce his humor to audiences around the world, Brookzz explains that succeeding on the stand-up stage required an entirely different level of discipline, patience and dedication to the craft.
The conversation also dives into Brookzz’s experience touring alongside comedy heavyweight Mike Epps, including what it was really like stepping onto arena stages and closing out shows in front of thousands of comedy fans. Brookzz reflects on the pressure, lessons and confidence that came from performing on one of the biggest platforms of his young career.
Representing Chicago throughout his journey, Brookzz discusses the city’s comedy culture, surviving notoriously tough audiences and how performing for crowds that refuse to hand out easy laughs helped sharpen his instincts as a comedian.
Brookzz also shares insight into receiving advice from superstar comedian Kevin Hart, revealing some of the valuable wisdom he has picked up while navigating an entertainment industry where viral popularity doesn’t automatically translate into longevity.
But one of the episode’s biggest moments arrives when Brookzz announces the next major milestone in his career: a brand-new Netflix stand-up comedy special filmed in Atlanta.
The upcoming project represents another significant step in Brookzz’s evolution from creating hilarious sketches online to establishing himself on some of stand-up comedy’s biggest stages.
