Peacock has announced the main cast for its highly anticipated upcoming comedy series Ted, based on the comedy films by Seth MacFarlane.

As is the case with both Ted films, MacFarlane is set to do a lot on the upcoming Peacock series. MacFarlane will direct, write, co-showrun, and executive produce all episodes alongside co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh (Modern Family).

Besides working on the show behind the camera, MacFarlane will also star in the series, reprising the voice of the iconic and foul-mouthed teddy bear Ted. Starring alongside him will be series regulars Giorgia Whigham (The Punisher, 13 Reasons Why), Max Burkholder (Parenthood), and Scott Grimes (Oppenheimer, The Orville). The series will come from MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door production banner and will take place prior to the two films in the timeline of Ted.

“It’s 1993 and Ted the bear’s moment of fame has passed, leaving him living with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett, who lives in a working-class Boston home with his parents and cousin,” reads the official synopsis. “Ted may not be the best influence on John, but when it comes right down to it, Ted’s willing to go out on a limb to help his friend and his family.”

The first two films became a hit for Universal Pictures and MacFarlane, and starred both MacFarlane and Mark Wahlberg as Ted and the grown-up version of John Bennett – Ted’s best friend. The two films went on to gross more than $750 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing original R-rated comedy film of all time.
