Sheng Wang makes his Netflix comedy special debut in Sheng Wang: Sweet and Juicy, marking Ali Wong’s directorial debut and filmed at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles. Sheng finds magic in the mundane as he discusses the upside to owning a juicer you don’t use, the secret to his posture, his heist dream team, and much more.
Ali Wong is a multi-hyphenate who has not just starred in stand-up specials and dramas but also served as a writer on Fresh Off the Boat since 2014 and a voice actress for many television series. She was also in the main cast of the ABC sitcom American Housewife. In 2019, she co-wrote and took the leading role in Netflix’s romantic comedy Always Be My Maybe, which received 32 million viewers on the streamer in its first four weeks.
Her latest Netflix comedy special Don Wong premiered on Valentine’s Day this year, building on a groundbreaking repertoire that includes earlier comedy specials Cobra and Hard Knock Wife. In her comedy work, Wong touches on issues of gender, romantic relationships, and race, among others. In October 2019, she also released a book titled Dear Girls: Intimate Tales, Untold Secrets & Advice for Living Your Best Life.
Sheng Wang is a comedian, actor, and writer originally from Houston, TX. He will film his first Netflix special to be produced and directed by Ali Wong in June 2022. He was a featured stand-up on HBO’s “2 Dope Queens” special and also wrote for the ABC show “Fresh Off the Boat.” Sheng resides in Los Angeles, and in his time off, he enjoys exploring botanical gardens and discovering new ways to snack.
