How did you discover your passion for comedy:
I’ve been performing on stage since I was 6 years old. My favorite moments were always the comedic ones – clowning, musical theater, and even Shakespeare. I did burlesque before I tried stand-up. I had the most fun in burlesque when I made people laugh as I was taking my clothes off. So, I thought – why not try and make people laugh with my clothes on.

What do you remember most about your first time performing stand-up comedy:
I was terrified that people just wouldn’t like me.

How would you describe your comedic style:
Sassy and fun

Describe your process for comedic writing:
I carry a notebook with me everywhere – I’m constantly jotting down observations, memories, & experiences. Sometimes I’ll riff on those ideas at a mic and other times I sit and write.

Describe the comedy scene in your area:
I love doing comedy in CA! There are so many opportunities to perform in front of live audiences from San Diego to Sacramento.

How do you judge success in the world of comedy:
I try to be proud of my incremental success – I’m performing at more shows and for longer amounts of time. I’m booking more feature and headliner spots. Noting the small successes is what fuels my drive to continue.

Who are some of your comedic peers that you enjoy watching perform or inspire you personally and professionally:
Nikki Bon, Aivy Cordova, & Hillary Wells

What’s been your most memorable moment in comedy:
I was fired from my teaching job for a joke I told on Kill Tony.

What have you learned most from your failures in comedy:
Failures are where I find the most growth – I know it’s corny, but it’s just always proven true.

How do people react towards you when they realize that you can make people laugh:
They laugh 🙂

Describe what it’s been like building a career in stand-up comedy:
It’s the most exhausting and fulfilling thing I’ve ever done AND I’m a mom!

If you could change one thing in the world of comedy, what would it be:
More opportunities for up and coming comics to perform at comedy clubs.

Best advice you’ve ever received from a comedian:
NEVER take your notes on stage.

If you were releasing a comedy special this week, what would it be called:
I’m Not Sorry

Funniest encounter you’ve ever had with a celebrity:
Chris D’Elia not hitting on me.

Weirdest place you’ve ever performed any forms of comedy:
A weed dispensary – the audience was so high I could only tell dick jokes but very slowly.

A Rachel Dee Fun Fact:
I taught high school for 20 years.

Where would you like your laughs to take you:
I would like to be a working comedian that tours. I’d also love to be a comedic actor.

What would you tell a potential comedian if they ask you how they can own the laughs:
Grind baby! Don’t stop, won’t stop.

What are your thoughts on the future of comedy:
Comedy is an ever-evolving art – I’m always surprised by it. I have I idea what the future holds for comedy BUT I will be there.

If you could write one episode for one classic TV sitcom which show would it be and give a brief detailed sentence on the episode:
I Love Lucy – Chocolate Factory Ep. Me as Lucy and Hillary Wells as Ethel

If you could choose 1 comedy club and 3 comedians to perform with on your perfect comedy show, how would it go:
The Comedy Store – Main Room: Hillary Wells, Nikki Glazer, & Sarah Silverman (All hilarious women with VERY different perspectives on life)

What’s next for you:
I will be performing all over CA and AZ. Check my Instagram for when I’m performing near you!
