Since the mid-1990s, the Just For Laughs comedy festival has served as a launching pad for up-and-coming talents turned legendary figures as part of their “New Faces” comedy showcase. Some of the young comedians to grace the Montreal stage to find stardom include Jimmy Fallon, Gabriel Iglesias, Kevin Hart, Amy Schumer, Ali Wong, and Pete Davidson just to name a few. Due in large part to a global pandemic in 2020, JFL’s highlight showcase will be streamed on Youtube from Los Angeles, Montreal, and New York City. One of the rising stars performing at this year’s festival is none other than American comedian Abby Roberge.
Abby Roberge is a Stand-Up comedian and actor. He grew up in a religious commune in Canada til the age of 12 before moving to the big city. Because of that, he sees things differently. In stand-up, Abby has been lucky enough to tour with comedy greats such as Bill Burr, Russell Peters, Bob Saget, and many more. He honed his craft working as a door guy at The World Famous comedy store for 7 years while performing all the major clubs, and any stage with a mic that lets him up. In acting, Abby has guest-starred on Modern Family and NBC pilots. Videos of his standup and sketches have been viewed over 100 million times.
