This week, a reboot of a comedy classic proved that it still has what it takes to sit on top of the weeknight throne with a viewer rating for the ages.

ABC’s “The Wonder Years” premiered as the No. 1 new series debut so far this season among Adults 18-49 (0.9/6). In fact, “The Wonder Years” marked the highest-rated series debut on any network since April – since NBC’s “Law & Order: Organized Crime” on 4/1/21. In addition, “The Wonder Years” held onto 93% of its lead-in with Total Viewers (4.1 million vs. 4.4 million), marking the best retention of any new series this season.

With 3 days of viewing across linear and digital platforms, the series debut of “The Wonder Years” spiked to a 1.55 rating among Adults 18-49, more than doubling its initial Live+Same Day rating with a +131% jump from L+SD to MP+3 (0.67 ratings to 1.55 rating).

Inspired by the 1988 series of the same name, the show stars Elisha “EJ” Williams as Dean Williams, and follows his life as he grows up in Montgomery, Alabama, in the late 1960s. Don Cheadle lends his voice as the narrator for the series as the adult counterpart of Dean.
