Tragedy strikes a midwest comedy community as three comedians lose their lives due to complications from COVID-19 after attending the 12th Annual The Clean Comedy Challenge at Gutty’s Comedy Club in Indiana.

Ron Barnett, Jason T. Goodall, and Patrick Andonie, all comedians who performed during this year’s event, have passed away due to complications from COVID-19.

Formed by Indiana comedic legend Leslie Norris Townsand in 2010, The Clean Comedy Challenge is a three-day comedy festival/boot camp held in mid-July. Young comedians experience tutorial workshops and critique performances sessions with legendary comedians. In a first-come, first-serve program, attendees paid $325 to participate in the event limited to 23 participants per challenge venue.

No news has been released regarding the confirmed number of comedians or guests who contracted COVID-19 during the event. The Clean Comedy Challenge has not announced any new event dates.

We Own The Laughs would like to send our thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by the tragic news.
